| Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) Missions Supported by Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC). |
Through our tithes and offerings WPC supports the many worldwide mission efforts of the PCUSA. From the website of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta you can find information on many of the mission efforts including being able to see the Mission Yearbook which you can view online. In addition, the website for the PCUSA has more information on U.S. & World Mission efforts through the denomination. Westminster participates in three main special offerings a year. Family Promise |
Westminster was
one of the sixteen host churches, along with two other support
congregations, in Gwinnett County participating in the community
outreach efforts of Family
Promise of Gwinnett. Four or five times a year WPC
host homeless families and provide shelter, meals, and support
services. There is a lot more information on the Family Promise
program on the website. Kris
White, from our congregation, is the coordinator for
Westminister and is ably assisted by a willing group of Westminster
volunteers. If you would like to participate in this most worthwhile
hands-on mission project either e-mail
Kris or call. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.

Bay
Saint Louis |
Westminster has sent three teams of volunteers to Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi to aid in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina. The photographs available from the link below |
Honduras
Missions |
Westminster
has sent 13 teams of members as short-term missionaries to Honduras
over the last several years. In the initial years the teams made two
trips a year. In recent years, a larger team has been going to Honduras
once a year.
The teams have helped build classrooms, privies, held health clinics, and conducted Bible Schools for the children. Most importantly they shared their faith in actions and words. While many photographs have been taken over the years showing the people and the Westminster teams, below are links showing a few photos taken during the 2003 - 2008. Ira and Cathy Adams shared a 2008 Mission Trip Report. The Mission Teams were supported before and during the trips by prayer partners here in our congregation.

Youth
Missions |
On
a monthly basis our PULSE (middle school) and Senior High youth serve at
the Metro Atlanta community Food Bank. The impact of these efforts
reach all corners of the State of Georgia as they pack food items for
distribution to so many people in need.
On a monthly basis our PULSE (middle school) and Senior High youth serve the homeless at First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. Annually our PULSE youth make a mission trip to another area. Similarly, the Senor High youth make a one-week mission trip either within the United States or to another country. Our Children's Ministry has various mission projects throughout the year such as "The One Great Hour of Sharing" which supports Presbyterian ministries for hunger, disaster assistance and development in more than 100 countries. The Children's Ministry also participates in other mission related projects such as "Blessing Babies Kits" to donate to a new mothers ministry. |
