Missions at Westminster

Local, National and Worldwide missions are a priority at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Whether it is physically participating in mission work or financially supporting other missions of the church, Westminster is fully engaged.

On this page we will highlight some of the many and varied Mission related efforts of the members of WPC.

Family Promise

Westminster was one of the sixteen host churches, along with two other support congregations, in Gwinnett County participating in the community outreach efforts of Family Promise of Gwinnett. Four or five times a year WPC host homeless families and provide shelter, meals, and support services. There is a lot more information on the Family Promise program on the website. Kris White, from our congregation, is the coordinator for Westminister and is ably assited by a willing group of Westminster volunteers. If you would like to participate in this most worthwhile hands-on mission project either e-mail Kris or call. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.

Honduras Missions
Foreign Missions

Westminster has sent 13 teams of members as short-term missionaries to Honduras over the last several years. In the initial years the teams made two trips a year. In recent years, a larger team has been going to Honduras once a year.

The teams have helped build classrooms, privies, held health clinics, and conducted Bible Schools for the children. Most importantly they shared their faith in actions and words.

While many photographs have been taken over the years showing the people and the Westminster teams, below are links showing a few photos taken during the 2003, 2004 and 2005. Also following the 2005 Mission Trip, Ron and Sandra Elliott shared with the congregation a 2005 Mission Trip Report. The Mission Teams were supported before and during the trips by prayer partners here in our congregation.
