Making the Connection

More and more people are recognizing the connection between health, fitness, and spirituality. In fact, studies show that staying connected spiritually can promote longevity, a greater satisfaction with life, and good mental health. Those making the mind - body - spirit connection have recognized the importance of spiritual health to the wholeness of the mind and the body.

A person’s faith provides the strength to sustain and support our physical and mental well-being. It helps us cope more effectively in times of despair, and sustains us through the good times and those that are bad. Indeed, our faith provides a sense of hope in the midst of life’s storms and enables us to rejoice even when we suffer pain or are afflicted with disease. “For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”(2 Corinthians 4: 16-18).

Take this opportunity to assess your spiritual health. It may be time to recharge your spiritual batteries. Remember God’s word provides assurances and promotes a way of life that is helpful to achieving physical and psychological wellness.

The Health Ministry is here to provide support to those in need and to promote abundant life through wellness of the mind, body, and spirit. Make the connection today!

Heart Disease and Women

Heart Disease and Women- The American Heart Association is raising awareness that Heart Disease is the #1 killer of American Women. Women often fail to make the connection between the causes of heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and their own risk of developing heart disease. Test your heart disease knowledge by asking yourself the following questions...

  • Do I know my risk factors for heart disease?
  • Do I know the signs and symptoms of a heart attack?
  • Do I know what to do if I experience heart attack symptoms?
If you answered "NO" to any of these questions, empower yourself this month with knowledge about preventing heart disease.
