From noon on Saturday, February 28th until 6 pm Sunday, February 29th the Senior High 30 Hour Famine/Lock-In was held at the Church and elsewhere. We meet at the church and then proceeded to have a blast for 30 hours, even though hunger pangs hit during the fast (i.e., no food).
The Senior Highs began by heading downtown to first volunteer at the Metro Atlanta Community Food Bank sorting foodstuff for distribution to food pantries throughout Georgia. They then went to the movies for a matinee showing of Mel Gibson’s "The Passion of Jesus Christ," called by many as the most moving and realistic portrayal of the last hours of Jesus’ life.
Finally on Saturday, the group attend the Hawks game at Philips Arena on Christian family night, which featured a concert by Jars of Clay (who played at Westminster eight years ago!) after the game.
The group then returned to the church for a lock-in. Funds collected were for World Vision at to help hungry families around the world.
After worship on Sunday, the group took a few hours off from each other before returning to the church at 5:30 pm for a brief time of processing and prayer before concluding the 30-hour fast with the Church-Wide Chili Show and Talent Supper.
